How is Slang different from Google Assistant or Alexa?

  • Slang resides inside an app, whereas Google Assistant and Alexa are outside your apps and are general-purpose voice assistants. We get to know the app more closely.
  • It's possible to drop your end-user inside your app through voice using either of the platforms, but end users won't be able to use voice to perform any more actions using voice.
  • Using either of the platforms forces businesses to play by their rules and share your data with them but Slang is inside your app, you control the experience your customers get and your data.
  • Think data Privacy. Your data is not somebody's else's resource to play with. Do we need to say anything more?!

Is Slang a chatbot?

No, Slang is not a chatbot. Chatbots are a separate channel usually to ask questions. A chatbot is a conversational help tool whereas Slang is a Voice to action solution embedded in your mobile or web apps, which allows users to speak to the app and app takes the desired action.

Which verticals does Slang support?

We are vertical agnostic, businesses can add voice to any solution irrespective of the vertical they are in. Having said that, we already have prebuilt templates for various verticals like Travel and Grocery shopping.

Which languages do you support?

Currently American English, Indian English, Hindi, Tamil & Kannada.

What happens with the data?

Utterances spoken by the users are anonymized and our store in your account on Slang. You can decide to purge the data. We don’t access the data either. Your data, you control it.

Do you do an audio recording of what user is speaking?

We store anonymised audio recordings to improve the recognition quality of our systems, but businesses can choose to opt-out from this by writing to us on 42@slanglabs.in.

What's the accuracy of Slang?

Slang has much higher accuracy than other systems because Slang resides inside your app and we understand the boundaries of your app. We are about 85% accurate in the beginning but we get better over time.

Can I use Slang for IVR?

Slang cannot be used for IVR systems today.  But with Slang inside your app, you can definitely reduce the calls to your IVR centres by answering the most common question for users inside the app itself.

Can I use Slang's speech recognition part only?

We don’t recommend using just one individual part of Slang. We believe the end-users will have the best experience if you will use all the components of Slang.

Is it Open source?

Not currently.

We promise an uptime of 99.9%

How long does Slang integration take in an app?

You can try out Slang in your app in less than 30 mins, but if you want to build great experience for your customers, it takes about a week for a single developer to do a POC

How is it better than Dialogflow?

Dialogflow just provides one piece of the puzzle i.e. NLP and offers very little customization. Our NLP engine Vyasa, provides much more fidelity to the businesses.
